wk2 staircase submission

hand drawn vertical section

hand drawn horizontal section and break-down

envelope ornament

external look 1

external look 2

external look 3

As can be seen in the hand drawn sections, this staircase is composed of two parts, the outer layer is a spiral staircase with column support, and the inner layer is a column supported spiral wall finished with the same ornament as the building envelope.

This wall ornament contains semicircular up and downs, which represent the ocean wave, and thus suggests the fluid concept for the cilent Trent Jansen Studio.

Also these two layers would intersect with each other if viewed outside of the staircase. In this way the two spiral lines blend into each other and create a dynamic sense, which resembles the running fluid.

Below are some inner looks:

wk1 update

The word for the upper part is fluid, from client Trent Jansen Studio. The materials used are coloured concrete for the envelope and glass for the front facade.

The word for the below ground part is collide, from client Khyzyl Saleem. The material used is stone with deep colour.

The undergroud part is basically an external look and it still needs to add more details. The inner structure and layout for both above and below ground parts are not developed yet.

Clients and words

The two clients I chose are Khyzyl Saleem and Trent Jansen Studio.
For Khyzyl, the three words are:
adj: skeletal; verb: collide; noun: cyberpunk.

For Trent, the three words are:
adj: fluid; verb: dissolve; noun: distortion.
