4. 36 custom textures

5. 3 in-model textures

Texture 1:

I use this texture on the interior supporting column of the building, the strong linear feature of the texture could emphasize the density of the column and thus enhance the sense of solidity.

Texture 2:

This texture belongs to the rotational movement, so I apply it to the top of the library, since the library is a rotational moving element, and the texture would rotate alongside as the moving element starts to rotate. (see the moving element video at part 7).

Texture 3:

This texture is used to the path outside of the lecture room, since this hallway itself is curved and there is no roof installed above it, so this dynamic texture could fit the shape of this hallway and also highlight the path from viewing above.

6. Sketchup model overlook

This Sketchup model has been uploaded to Sketchup 3D Warehouse, the name of the model is "ARCH1101_EXP2_2020_ZHOU XINSONG".

7. 2 moving elements

Moving element 1:

The moving element in this video is the whole library, as it rotates, the shadow of the wood claddings would vary at the same time, thus change people's view of the building exterior. Also, people who are currently in the library would see different views of surroundings from the glazings as the library rotates.

Moving element 2:

This moving element is an elevator that connects the lower and higher part of the building. Its organic shape would stand out easily through the surrounding rectangular wood cladding. Since there are glazings at both sides of the elevator,  people who are using it could enjoy the variation of views of both outside and inside.

My theory:
Weight and solidity of architecture are characterized by organic forms.

This bridge spans from square house to NADA UNSW, it also covers certain parts of the roundhouse and Anzac Parade.

The bridge takes inspiration from Alvar Aalto's organically shaped vase and Louis Kahn's geometry use in architecture. The whole building is glazed while exterior to the glazings there is another layer of wood cladding. This wood layer is attached to the glazings closely and it follows the direction of the glazing, thus it is characterized by the glazings.

As can be seen in the images, there are up-and-downs in the form of wood cladding, some of which nearly touch the ground, while there are also some that reach a phenomenal height and get the glazing exposed. This feature resembles the character of gravity, some are impacted strongly while others are just slightly influenced. In this concept, the feature of weight could be demonstrated.

The other concept is solidity. The organic glazing itself is a form that performs well in flexibility but lacks solidity. In contrast, rectangular wood could shield the organically shaped glazings. Also, different wood claddings from different levels and rooms would merge into each other if viewed from the exterior, they together make up layers of angular barriers that enhace the solidity of the bridge.

Weight and solidity are features that do not appear in organic forms frequently, but they could be shown with the aid of angular envelopes.
